Newcastle Building Society Staff Conference 

We worked alongside the Communication and Engagement team as well as Digital Channel Specialist, Ben Nielson, to deliver the annual staff conference as well as the ‘Time to Shine’ awards for a dynamic and fast growing building society – Newcastle Building Society

The Conference took place on an empty floor used for storage in the Newcastle head officer building. This, therefore posed several challenges for R&B Group.

Since the event was taking place in a busy commercial office that didn’t have any built in staging or built in AV, R&B Group had to prep and install every piece of equipment, including miles of cables! The client requested a clean, customised backdrop that reflected their brand and theme for the event – ‘Powered by Purpose’. The low ceilings prevented us from using stock panels so we adapted them to fit perfectly and, using our CAD (Computer Aided Design) stage design software, we could position branding perfectly on the day of installation.

Also, it was recommended that additional cabling and sockets were to be installed at the foot of the pillars so that LED screens could be mounted on them. The client wanted to seat as many people as possible and ensure that all staff could easily see all presentations. The CAD seating plan confirmed that viewing of the main screens in some areas would be restricted so a number of large LED screens were positioned by pillars and the outer edges of the room to ensure a good viewing experience for everyone involved.

R&B Groups in-house video production team also filmed the days presentations. This was then quickly turned around and the final, edited recording was uploaded to the Newcastle Building Society intranet for viewing, primarily for those who could not attend the day.

Newcastle Building Society loved the set up for the event so much that they actually went on to buy kit from us in order to make the stage and AV a permanent set up!
