R&B Group have been busy supporting the organisers of the Great North Run with various aspects of event production.
During the week leading up to the 33rd running of this mass participation event a spectacular evening of entertainment was arranged on NewcastleGateshead Quayside. Performances from Sting, Mark Knopfler, Jimmy Nail, Ant & Dec, and Chase & Status were interwoven into a lighting, sound and pyro extravaganza telling the story of Tyneside. R&B Group provided a disabled viewing platform for the event and played our small part in this amazing event, which used Sage Gateshead as a projection mapping backdrop.
On the day of the run our teams were out on the course early to
- set-up and operate the Tunnel of Sound at the 12-mile mark,
- provide 11 plasma screens in the hospitality and press areas showing the BBC broadcast live,
- build the stage and backdrop for the Millionth Finisher presentation
The tension built in South Shields as the millionth finisher grew nearer, with Tracy Crammond achieving that fame after her 13.1 mile run.
Tracy is pictured receiving her award from Brendan Foster and Seb Coe, with the prestigious First Millionth Finisher flag in the background. Tracy finished approximately 2 hours 22 minutes behind the winner of the race Mo Farah and no doubt she will receive as much publicity over the coming weeks! Congratulations.
