So we recently staged the CIH 2016 event in Manchester at the end of June.  The event production has become a little easier than it used to be but this year we also won the job of producing the event in the adjacent Manchester Exchange Hall which doesn’t get any other use during the event.  It is a massive hall which can hold around 1000 people for a full dinner and awards event, and we use it for a few events each year for another of our clients, Insider, twice a year at least.  It’s a kind of fun area to be working in but it’s also a bit of a killer gig to have to do!

However, for this event, the Housing Heroes Awards 2016, we have pitched several times and never actually won the gig.  It’s been quite amusing watching as others have put the show on as our office over looks the venue so we can see what they are up to!  Been some very unusual “goings-on” happen, that’s all I can say here!!  Anyway, less said I think, although we have heard of several (no sorry, really cant say right now!)

Anyway, 2016 (year 5 at the venue I think) we get a chance to show our talents!  It’s a biggish job, but not a problem for our design team and creatives to pull something out of the bag, to recognise some people getting awards, and to celebrate in the usual way – lots of applause, singing and even some dancing I think!  We set up the day prior to the event (unusual for us but worth it in the end) and we were well ready for the rehearsals and the event itself.

The overall design was relatively simple in many ways, but still needed staging in a good way.  Everyone seemed really happy with our overall efforts and the event was extremely well attended by the great and the good of the housing profession who were all looking for an event to attend that night (the Monday evening event which kicks off the overall proceedings for the week).  We really enjoyed the process and will look forward to discussing next years event with the organisers as soon as we can!
