It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

We’re decided to get all festive in this week’s R&B Group blog and at the same time pose a question to all you hard working event professionals…

When does Christmas begin for you?

Season's Greetings

Season’s Greetings

The events industry is a seasonal business. There’s not a lot in the way of conferences and awards ceremonies, more parties and dinners to organise, install operate and de-rig ensuring everyone else is having fun. But hey! Everyone needs a Christmas, right?

I really feel for those in the industry who don’t even get Christmas Day without having to work and there are plenty. I came close to it may years ago when I worked in theatre. Finish on Christmas Eve and we were all back in there (most with accompanying hangover) for a matinee on Boxing Day.

I guess we all still ‘enjoy’ Christmas however, we may be working but we work in the events, entertainment and hospitality industries – if we don’t know how to party, then who does!?

So I found myself listening to a Christmas song on the radio and thinking “it doesn’t feel like Christmas yet”, even though I actually have written some Christmas cards which needed to be posted overseas. Maybe it will take a glass of mulled wine for me to get the festive bug? Or consumption of too many of those purple ones in Quality Street.

So let us know when does Christmas begin for you?

At R&B Group Christmas comes for our hardworking crews on the 21 December, when we close our offices at noon for our own staff party! The guys and girls deserve to put their feet up too, so our offices will remain closed and re-open on 3 January, 2017. Don’t worry though, if you have any AV emergencies or late requests, we have crews on standby all weekdays within the festive period (not inc 24/25/26 Dec – 1/2 Jan).

I hope all you event profs do manage a good rest! I’m signing off for this year, so I’d like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! I’ll be back in January bright and breezy, when I’ll be blogging from our new office in Paddington, London – so I’m especially hopeful for a very happy new year!

Happy holidays!
